The 2008-2009 adult education series: “Who Are We, and How Did We Get This Way?” explored the biblical and historical roots of Christianity, the changing shape of the church over the centuries, the foundational tenets of Reformed tradition, and being Presbyterian today.
For Advent, Barry Hartz led us in two dynamic sessions on Handel’s Messiah. During Lent, we looked at how we are all gifted and called to be Christians as evangelists, disciples and prophets. Finally, we looked at our congregation’s rich history through the experiences of 3 members who grew up at Forest Hill during the ‘50-‘60s; 3 who experienced our blossoming social justice missions during the ‘70s and ‘80s; and several newer members who reflected on what drew them to Forest Hill. John and Clover shared their experiences of the church when they were first called and shared their vision for maintaining vitality and nurturing growth.
