Small Study Groups
Bibles and Bagels
Every Wednesday morning, at 7:30 a.m., a group of members and friends meets for coffee and bagels and a study of the upcoming lectionary reading. You’re invited to drop-in any time (there’s nothing to read ahead of time.) Bibles and Bagels meets in the Jin Room.
Kerygma
Various Kerygma curriculum offerings are offered at Forest Hill. These courses help you know the Bible so that it may become an effective resource for your faith. It involves a great deal of study but the importance of understanding the Bible as a whole justifies the extra effort.
For information on the next rewarding Kerygma study, contact Rev. Clover Beal. No previous course is required but there is generally a small fee for the resource book.
Weekly Yoga Classes
Yoga classes, gentle enough for beginners, have started up again at Forest Hill. The sessions are from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, with each session costing $10. Drop-ins are welcome. Contact Rev. Clover Beal for more information.
Faith Leader
As part of Forest Hill’s commitment to developing spiritual lay leaders, a small group of individuals participate in an intense, 26-week small group program called Faith Leader. This weekly group gathers to discern their spiritual gifts and types, develop spiritual disciplines, and commit to personal plans for ministry. Now starting its 4th year, Faith Leader is co-led for 2009-2010 by lay leaders Jeannine Gury and Ed Gemerchak. Our Director of Lay Leadership Development, Clover Beal, is also an active participant. For more information about the program or to express interest in participating, contact Rev. Clover Beal.
Sycamore
Past Faith Leader participants can continue their spiritual journeys in this bi-monthly small group led by members Jean Reinhold and Ron Polderman. If you did not participate in Faith Leader but are interested in the Sycamore group, please contact Rev. Clover Beal for more information.
Evangelism Study Group
Does the “E” word give you pause? If so, you’re not alone. Progressive Protestants all over the country are wondering how to rediscover, reclaim and redefine evangelism for our postmodern society. A small group at Forest Hill Church, led by member Keith Logan, is meeting weekly to study Richard Peace’s book Holy Conversations and explore ways to talk about our faith with others.
(Note: NEW GROUPS form regularly and meet together for as long as desired. If you are interested in starting a new group, we are happy to assist in any way possible.)
