Mid- and Senior-High Church School
Forest Hill offers separate Church School classes for its Mid-High and Senior-High kids.
Mid-High Church School for Grades 6-8 ~ Trailblazers
Kids in grades 6-8 meet Sunday mornings before church, during the 9:30 education hour. They head down to the M.O.B. room to explore their faith and learn about the Bible. Guided by the Presbyterian curriculum “We Believe, I Know My Bible,” they identify the major Bible stories and see how the entire Bible flows from book to book. They start with The Torah, then move on to Hebrew History, Hebrew Wisdom, the Prophets, Gospels, the Early Church and the Letters.
Senior-High Church School for Grades 9-12
Our senior high youth also meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30, in Bodwell Hall. They talk about how religious faith can be relevant in their lives and how a person’s faith can change and deepen throughout life. They talk about real-life conflicts between church and state, and how faith affects attitudes toward government, current events, and consumerism. Several times during the year, they hit the road to worship at other Christian and non-Christian faith communities.
Adolescence is a time of personal reflection and uncertainty. Forest Hill’s youth education programs give teenagers a safe and supportive place to:
- explore their faith and their relationship with God
- claim their God-given gifts
- question freely
- build and value relationships
- discover the richness and relevance of the Bible,
- develop choice-making skills and personal values
- embrace service, and
- celebrate.
We pray that, with the Spirit’s guidance, youth will continue their faith journey and blossom into reflective, joyful disciples who can connect their faith into their daily lives.
