Forest Hill’s softball teams chase a championship every summer in the Heights Church Softball league. In the past decade Forest Hill Church has been to the finals 8 times and won the championship 6 times! We play to win but no one takes it too seriously (yeah…right…) The ever-aging team is always looking for new talent and families to join. The games are enjoyable for spectators as well as players, and the post-game get-togethers and cookouts are great ways to celebrate, no matter what the final score is.
If you’re interested in playing (actual softball skills not needed!), email Jason Hidek or see him at church during coffee hour before or after service.

2013 Season ~ FHC Back on Top !!!!
The softball team had a historic season in 2013. Led by a powerful offense and the best defense in Northeast Ohio (no, really, they pride themselves on defense), they won the regular season with an 18-2 record earning the #1 seed in the tournament. After easily dispatching of Korean Presbyterian in the opening round 19-1 and Grace Lutheran in the quarterfinals 15-5, they faced their rival Church of the Savior in the semi-finals. Led by a grand slam from Jeff Axer, they cruised to a 15-8 victory. In the championship game, FHC spotted Fairmount Presbyterian Church a 10-0 lead in the first inning. After shaking off the rust, FHC clamped down on defense and came back for a thrilling 13-12 victory for their 8th Heights Church League Championship. Dana Obery led the team with 2 Home Runs in the dramatic come-from-behind victory.
2011 Season ~ 5th CHAMPIONSHIP IN A ROW!
Forest Hill Church entered the post season tournament seeking their 5th consecutive title. Unfortunately, 2 early losses by the ‘A’ team eliminated them from the tournament. However, the ‘B’ team was still alive and victories over Grace Lutheran, Church of the Savior and Fairmount Presbyterian put them in the title game. After losing to Church of the Savior ‘B’ team, they played again in a winner-take-all Championship game, which FHC prevailed 11-4 earning FHC its 5th consecutive HCL title.
2010 Season ~ 4th CHAMPIONSHIP IN A ROW!
After the double elimination championship games were rained out, the league went to a single elimination game. Expectations were not high since our 3 previous championships were won in double elimination. But the Forest Hill bats came through and Team A finished in first place again….for an unprecedented 4th year in a row!
Season Highlights: Daryl Musick and Jason Hidek played in the first ever Heights Church League vs Euclid League All-Star Game.
2009 Season ~ 3rd CHAMPIONSHIP IN A ROW!
For the 3rd year in a row, Forest Hill’s softball team won the 12-team Heights Church Softball League. After defeating Grace Lutheran (18-2) and First Baptist (10-0) to reach the Finals, they then had to beat St. Ann’s Parish twice. They held on to win the first game 10-8 and then rallied back to win the second game 18-15. Keith Logan and Dave Burleigh led the way with 11 hits each!
Thanks to all who supported our softball teams this year. Having two teams allowed us to welcome many new players who enjoyed family fun, fellowship and friendship throughout the season.
2008 Season ~ 2nd CHAMPIONSHIP IN A ROW!
Showing their 2007 Championship was not a fluke, the softball team came back in 2008 to repeat as champions. After defeating Grace Lutheran in the quarter-finals 13-11 and Werner United Methodist 22-7 in the semi-finals, they met Church of the Savior in the champonship. A 6-run third inning sent Forest Hill flying to back-to-back championships cruising to a 13-2 victory. It was their 3rd title overall.
