Intergenerational Events

Forest Hill Church puts on several fun fellowship events for all ages during the year. Perennial favorites are our Festival of New Beginnings and the May Cabaret, our Spring all-church extravaganza musical.  And new for 2010, our Fabulous Food Fridays!

2010 Festival of New Beginnings: Tropical Paradise

Forest Hill folks enjoyed a Tropical Paradise during our annual Festival of New Beginnings after worship on Sunday, September 12. A tropical lunch was provided by the Deacons and our underpaid and overworked chef, Morag Keefe. The Euclid Beach Rocket Car was back along with fun for all ages and games with prizes for young and “young at heart.”  Last year’s popular Tiki Bar, manned by our MOB Senior Highs, served Tropical Smoothies.

2010 May Cabaret

This year’s May Cabaret began with a delicious dinner prepared by Chef Morag Keefe and continued with a fabulous array of well-rehearsed musical acts. Directed by our Music Director Anne Wilson and emceed by Todd Webster, the fast-paced, smoothly-run evening was by turns hilarious, touching, inspiring, and…just plain loony. (Really…who taught John Lentz to Samba?)

The 2010 Program boasted 15 acts:

  • Voices in Bronze performed Bashful Bell Song with Frank Ragone as the bashful ringer

  • The Descant Choir sang Consider Yourself and led us all in an aerobic version of the Fast Food Song

  • Emcee Todd Webster explained the Top Ten Things to Do in a Crowded Elevator

  • Lindsey Miller and Hannah and Nathan Smith offered their instrumental version of Oh When the Saints

    Emily Brock

  • Seven-year-old Rowan Trammell whistled the Theme Song to Mayberry RFD (and had many of us looking for where the whistling was really coming from!)

  • Emily Brock sang the hauntingly beautiful Nightingale in Berkeley Square

  • Zoe Hartz played the spirited Calypso Carnival on the piano

  • Members of the Forest Hill Youth Groups sang Don’t Stop Believing, the theme song from GLEE

  • Chris Gemerchak ignored the Samba contest going on behind him and gave us a flawless Braziliera on the alto sax

  • Beth Zych and Shelley Jesberger “loathed” each other in their rendition of What is This Feeling? from The Wiz

  • The award-winning Heights High Barbershoppers delighted us with several numbers

  • Molly Webster, Edie Duncan and Ally Boyd performed their original Walk to Emmaeus Rap

  • Kurt Haas sang the tender Blue Wing and accompanied himself on guitar

  • Friends Megan Muller-Girard and Zoe Herzenstein offered their tribute to friendship with their duet For Good

  • And last, but never least, the newest and youngest Male Ballet troupe ever “graced” our stage: Jack Lentz, Thomas Taylor, Jaired Birks and Seth Ungemach.

Thanks to all who participated!

Fabulous Food Fridays ~ Something new for 2010

Four Forest Hill chefs took turns volunteering their time to prepare, educate and serve delicious Friday evening dinners for four Friday evenings in February and March. The series averaged 20 guests per evening and raised over $300 for the FHC food pantry. A tremendous thanks to chefs Barry Hartz, Jenny Himmelman, Laura Stauffer, and Matt Russo. Folks already are crying out for another series - stay tuned for next season!
