Forest Hill Church gives generously of its time, talent, and money. The following organizations currently receive financial support from our congregation. We encourage everyone to learn more about and become involved with any of these worthy organizations:

LOCALLY

Heights Community Congress
Mission: to advocate for social justice, further civil rights causes and combat discrimination; to advocate and monitor fair housing; and to facilitate community building and activism in the Heights area. For more information, call 216-321-6775 or visit Heights Community Congress.

Heights Parent Center
Mission: to support and promote the healthy development of families and children in the belief that strong families build strong communities. For more information, call 216-321-0079 or visit Heights Parent Center.

Heights Youth Club
Mission: to serve Cleveland Heights children and families by providing affordable, supervised after-school activities by partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland. For more information, call 216-321-2581 or visit Heights Youth Club.

Home Repair Resource Center
Mission: to maintain and strengthen housing in Cleveland Heights and support the community’s rich diversity. Provides low cost loans, counseling, training and community involvement, ultimately supporting economic, social and racial diversity in the community. Reaching Heights
Mission:
to mobilize community resources to foster highly valued public schools that provide all students with a successful education. Support annual Spelling Bee. Youth Mission at Forest Hill Church
Mission: to support Forest Hill students and their adult leaders who travel to other areas locally, regionally, nationally and internationally to observe different cultures, interact with members of different communities, and contribute in any way needed to improve the quality of life in impoverished neighborhoods. The Summer 2008 mission was to Nicaragua; past missions have been to Mexico, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, and Cleveland.

REGIONALLY

Covenant Network of Prebyterians
Mission: to represent and advance the Presbyterian Church’s traditional, progressive stance on a broad range of theological, ecclesiastical, pastoral and social witness issues. InterAct Cleveland
Mission: to promote mutual understanding and appreciation of diverse religious beliefs and practices, as well as discovery of the values and beliefs shared by many faith traditions. InterAct Cleveland members actively engage with one another to help shape positive responses to the challenges and opportunities facing Greater Cleveland, including religious diversity itself. They hold educational dialogues and have charitable services that help people who are impoverished and those who are experiencing homelessness through their programs: The Homeless Stand Down and Congregate Meals. Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)
Mission: to provide compassionate care to homeless families, alleviate the trauma of homelessness and assist families in securing a stable home. Program provides for a caring, dignified environment of overnight hospitality in church and synagogue facilities and also supportive services to help families become self-sufficient. New Life Community

NOAH (Northeast Ohio Alliance for Hope)
Mission: to establish policies and practices in the Northeast Ohio region that bring about justice and equity, and to empower the faith community through investment in the development of leaders and pastors who may be able to energize response and action. Theological Education Fund
Mission: to support the Presbyterian Church (USA)’s theological seminaries and schools. For more information, contact the Presbytery of the Western Reserve.

United Protestant Campus Ministries (UPCaM)
Mission: to provide pastoral care, community service opportunities, social events, study groups and worship opportunities for students and staff of urban Cleveland college campuses. UPCaM is committed to diversity and dedicated to open-minded discussions where people learn from–and come to appreciate–the differences God has created among all God’s children. Hunger Sundays
Mission: The first Sunday of every month is Hunger Sunday. Any cash or checks in envelopes marked “Hunger” are used 100% for support of local hunger programs. Each month we divide the money collected in thirds and send it to Heights Emergency Food Center, the Garden Valley Hunger Center, and the Hot Meals Program at First Presbyterian Church, East Cleveland.

INTERNATIONALLY

Amaro Tah School, Pogradec, Albania
Mission: To offer education and shelter as well as teach basic social skills, discipline and personal hygiene for children in extreme poverty in Albania and save them from human trafficking. For more information, contact Bob Baker, 216-991-4060.

CRISPAZ
Mission: To serve as a faith-based organization dedicated to the mutual accompaniment with the church of the poor and marginalized communities in El Salvador in building bridges and striving for peace, justice and human liberation. International Partners in Mission (IMP)
Mission: to provide funding for Teen Night School in Managua, Nicaragua that works with youth, providing them with educational opportunities that develop their initiative to learn, develop organizational skills and foster community relationships. South Africa Partners in Mission (SAMP)
Mission: to accompany our partners in the Sisonke Masilwe Indlala network of churches and organizations in South Africa as they organize and advocate for land justice. SAMP also seeks to engage individuals and churches in northeast Ohio to understand better the needs for transformation of people and policies in both the United States and South Africa.
