Family, Youth & Children’s Ministry
Our Family, Youth & Children’s Ministry offers age-appropriate classes and programming. Children of all ages have their own time during worship and are invited to sit together during the sermon in a supervised, kid-friendly area of the sanctuary for quiet worship-time activities.
Information listed is for the Program Year – from Labor Day through Memorial Day. Nursery care and the Sermon Activity Time are available year-round.

INFANTS/TODDLERS
(Birth – age 2)
Childcare is available starting at 9:30 and goes through worship. The Nursery is staffed by the wonderful Tracy Long and a volunteer each week. Children are also welcome to worship in the sanctuary with their families. There is a rocking chair, books, and small toys available in the back of the sanctuary for families with infants/toddlers.
YOUNG CHILDREN
(About age 3 – Kindergarten)
Children’s Worship Class
Childcare is available starting at 9:30am. During worship, our Children’s Worship Class meets in room 207 and explores the Godly Play curriculum. On the first Sunday of the month, the Children’s Worship Class shares in the sacrament of Communion with their families.
Cherub Choir
Our youngest choir meets periodically throughout the program year to rehearse and sing during worship. For more information about this choir, see Lisa Koops.
GRADE SCHOOL
(Grades 1 – 5)
Descant Choir
Our grade school choir rehearses every Sunday from 9:30 – 10:10am in the sanctuary. After rehearsal, the children have a snack and go to their Christian Education classes.
Pathways
The elementary Sunday School class meets before worship from about 10:10 – 10:55am. They study Bible stories with some kind of response (art, cooking, games, etc.) This year, the class is producing their own podcast: The Pathways Podcast
Activity Time
Every week, we invite children to come to the side pews for a quiet activity during the sermon.
YOUTH
(Grades 6 – 12)
Youth Education
The Youth Education class meets before church from 9:30-10:30am.
Sine Nomine Choir
This choir for grades 6-12 and college students generally meets every other Sunday (with exceptions) for 30-40 mins after worship.
Youth Group Events
Youth meet once a month on Sunday evenings for House Church and periodically for other fellowship and service opportunities.
Summer Mission Trips
Most summers, the Senior Highs (rising 9th – 12th graders) engage in a week of mission or study. Mission locations have included the Montreat Conference Center, Washington D.C., Harlan, KY; Leon, Nicaragua; the Presbyterian Triennium in Indiana; Cherokee, North Carolina; South Dakota, and Juarez, Mexico.
Confirmation Classes
Confirmation classes are offered to help youths choose their own faith journey. They are offered every other year and provide a comprehensive overview of Christianity, along with opportunities to grow closer to adult mentors and youth friends.
Many thanks to our volunteers for the hours they spend teaching our children. Each is a well-known participant in our congregation who has received annual training in our Child/Youth Protection Policy requirements.
