Living The Big Give!

Listen to our joyful celebration of the Return of the Big Give and read about some of the many talents people demonstrated below:

CREATIVE GIFTS: Beautifully framed watercolor paintings were created by Chantal Miller and Joan KandareDiana Woodbridge organized a group wreath-making project with material donated by Mary Ann Pogue. Ted Woodbridge made birdfeeders that came with instructions on how to make it  squirrel-proof. And purchasers could vote for Michigan or Ohio State by purchasing a fringed fleece blanket crafted by members Diana Woodbridge and Chessie Bleick in the colors of their favorite team .

EXPERIENCES: Jim Roosa and Jed Koops organized a 5-K Run with races for individuals and relay teams. Rosanna Sprague offered an hour of introductory college  planning. Lisa Koops, with the help of Grace Uhle, taught families how to play musically with their children and sent them home with a Family Music Kit to continue the learning at home. Jeannine Gury, Scott Peters and Brooke Marcy offered a Parent’s Night Out, providing play, a pizza dinner and a movie. Liz and Emily Wollaeger raffled off tickets for a Cleveland Indians game.

FOOD: Chris Bell baked and sold traditional Middle Eastern baklava. Val Flechtner and others fed the masses at the Big Give Festival with a Bake Sale. Kris Fay cooked up batches of member Verna Bidelman‘s Hot Fudge Sauce, while hand-decorated, gift-wrapped cookies were baked and sold by Carolyn Charles and Dick Obermanns. Victoria Taylor also backed and sold goodies as her Big Give project. Traci Ext and Loren Toplitz served a Greek-themed dinner at their home for $20 per person. Kathryn Eloff purchasde ingredients for the Pathways classes to create delicious baked goods for sale after worship.

MISCELLANEOUS: Anne & Dave Hunter held a garage sale with proceeds going to the Big Give and leftover items going to charityAn anonymous donor dedicated the income from a CSU class she taught, Jason Hidek and others combined their gifts and purchased a 40″ Toshiba flat screen HDTV to raffle off, and Jane Kowall wrote personalized songs for special occasions. Tricia Dykers-Koenig offered book-loving Presbyterians autographed copies of whichever book the buyer chose for the price of a book plus a freewill donation.
