Pacesetters and The Group invite you enjoy the musical Ragtime with them at Cain Park on Sat. June 29 at 7pm. Ticket prices are $32 but if you get $28 per ticket to Peg Weissbrod before June 15, you’ll receive a group discount. Contact Peg Weissbrod with questions. (Ragtime is expected to sell out quickly.)
A sweeping portrait of early-20th-century America, Ragtime explores what living in America means for three diverse families: African Americans, represented by Coalhouse Walker Jr., a Harlem musician; upper-class suburbanites, represented by Mother, the matriarch of a white upper-class family in New Rochelle, New York; and Eastern European immigrants, represented by Tateh, a Jewish immigrant from Latvia. The Tony-winning score includes the ragtime rhythms of Harlem and Tin Pan Alley, klezmer music from the Lower East Side, up-tempo banjo tunes, period parlor songs, and expansive anthems.
